Fortunately there is an international bridge that connects the towns and visitors can travel easily between the two countries as long as they hold a valid passport.

The area has a long and interesting history. Archaeologists have found substantial evidence of human habitation going back many hundreds of years. The river provided a plentiful source of fish for a year round food supply. The rapids that run through the area make the waters particularly good and a host of marine life is still found. There are still many people making their living from the river.
