How To Carry Out Soda Machine Restoration

By Marcie Goodman

Keeping soda machines in good working condition is an important task that needs to be considered. The proper manner of Soda Machine Restoration often begins with the removal and disassembling of the bolts and nuts. When this is done, it results to separation of the machine into smaller components which are easier to clean and those that lead to easy changing of the respective parts.

Bead blasting is then carried out on all parts to help remove all the dirt, grease and rust that accumulate on the surfaces. Compressed air is used in blasting abrasive grits to the material surface. This is essential as it enables the old stains and paint to be totally done away with, thereby leaving a smooth surface for the next step.

Power coating is then carried out on all the drums, liners of the shelves and cabinets to ensure that a rust proof and hard finish is accomplished. It also ensures that the final finish is as shinny as something new. It is better if this is started at the top while handling one section at a time until all the coating is done. Embossed lettering is then added on by painting in order to finish up this step.

Stripping is another important step which is done after determining that a proper chemical ratio has been mixed. This chemical is applied evenly as a coat from bottom to top, to avoid streaking. Special attention should be observed during stripping as this is the point where repair needs can be easily identified.

Placing energy insulation into the interior of the doors and the main unit is then carried out to ensure that the rubbers stay in the required places. Originality of your cooling system will depend on the manner in which it was insulated. This is the reason why better insulation should be carried out.

All chrome should also be polished, depending on the style of the soda machine. The steel screws and bolts that are used should be new and stainless to ensure durability. The bottles and can-stacks together with the shelves should be powder coated or plated with zinc in a correct manner. If this is not done correctly, it may interfere with the functioning procedure or bring about tolerance interference.

Coin mechanisms should be considered and it is better if they function properly without problems. Thorough inspection and cleaning are the techniques which could enable better results. Everyone would have his or her preferred dress-up decals and so, it would be necessary if you choose that decal which suits you best. These decals would then be fixed to the machine.

The refrigeration unit is also one area that has to be tackled before the soda machine restoration process can be deemed over. In this step, the original unit can be restored back to its original place after disassembling, repainting and rewiring. Alternatively, you can decide to have a brand new deck compressor unit added to your machine, which would also mean that you spend a little more on the new compressor.
